My name is Linus Gabrielsson and I am a professional translator and composer. I was born in Stockholm and lived in Sweden until August 2008 when I moved to Berlin to further my career in music. After high school, I directed my attention to language studies - at first on secondary school level, later at university - all the while keeping up my musical education by enrolling at the Institute for Electroacoustic Music in Sweden.
I have a varying level of proficiency in eight languages. Since 2007 I have been working full time as a freelance translator. Being a full time student between 2004 and 2007 I couldn't take on very many jobs, but even so I did do occasional translation jobs; among them a diversity report for the County Police in Stockholm and an essay for an anthology on queer studies. Being a translator and an electronic composer has given me ample experience in general computing, word processing software and digital audio. My typing skills are also very good. Furthermore I have been a semi professional online poker player since 2006. Translation work, musical commissions and performances all force you to adapt to tight deadlines and high work loads, and playing poker teaches you to handle stress in a constructive way. Since I started working as a professional translator I have been working with source material from fields as diverse as: Computer Hardware/Software, Industrial Equipment, Digital Audio, Auditing, Consumer Goods, Insurance, Educational Material, Public Information, Computer Games and Tourism & Travel.
My throughput for English/Norwegian/Danish -> Swedish is about 4000 words/day, depending on subject matter. For German -> Swedish around 3000 words/day.
I am thorough, meticulous and I always deliver on time - I am also looking forward to working with you!
