Ito-Smithies Communications is a partnership between two experienced bilingual translation and documentation professionals from Japan and New Zealand.

Mike has been based in Japan since 1998, working as a language professional in various capacities.
With a Postgraduate diploma in Information Design, he is professionally trained in tech writing, document design, editing and proofreading.
As a translation editor, he has worked on projects for numerous clients including Hitachi, Cray Japan, NEC, Hino Motors, Shiseido and the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Nahoko Ito
A widely travelled native Japanese speaker who has lived and worked in Denmark, Zambia and New Zealand, Nahoko is fanatical about translation.
Her experience includes stints translating clinical trial reports for Merck Japan (now Merck Serono) and working in-house at Japan’s largest bank, which gives her not only breadth of ability, but depth of experience.
