Onsite French-English Interpreter, 4-7 June 2024, Mons, Belgium

Robert D. Niehaus, Inc. (RDN) is an economic consulting company based in Santa Barbara, California, United States. We are conducting research for a housing study on behalf of a US-based client. Our objective is to understand key characteristics of the historic, current, and expected future housing market in western Belgium, including trends in supply and demand, rent and utility costs, size, quality, and amenities.

We are seeking two English-French interpreters based in Belgium to accompany two of our analysts onsite to interview local housing professionals and government officials. As an interpreter, your job will be mainly to help set-up and interpret for these interviews, but we may also need assistance translating terms in select documents/websites, such as rental listings or data tables from government agencies.

We expect to work about 6 hours per day June 4-7, 2024.

What we're looking for:
-working professional based in Belgium
-conversational-to-fluent French and English (written and verbal)
-prior interpreting or translation experience
-Knowledge of housing market concepts (vacancy rate, turnover rate, monthly rent, building permits, etc.)
-A flexible, hardworking, people person

In addition to an hourly or daily rate, we will also pay for your local accommodations and transportation as needed. (We'll have a rental car.)
