Spanish to English: Novela EN CHINA DOS VECES LA VIDA , autor: Enrique Posada Cano (Colombia) General field: Art/Literary Detailed field: Poetry & Literature
Translation - English (from the novel 'China - A Life Twice Lived',
by Enrique Posada Cano, chapter 2)
He began to hear Spanish speaking voices coming out of the loudspeakers, announcing the start of Radio Peking news for the Spanish speaking world. They spoke of the first spring harvest, giving astronomical figures on the consumption of rice of the Chinese people. Silvestre couldn’t stop thinking that in China life was a miracle, every minute of every hour. Of course, he thought, if there are nineteen hundred Chinese, six hundred thousand of which would be adults, and if they ate, let’s say, half a pound of rice every day, the daily consumption would be seventy-five million kilograms of rice.
