1987-2026: I started to translate when professional translators still used classical typewriters. Back then, clients would come to my home office to pick up their translations and would often stay on for hours, talking about the nature of the document I had just translated for them.

 Thirty-nine years translating and proofreading documents to the tune of around one million words per year… And still counting at the rate of thousands of words day after day. Thus, I may claim that I earned well every inch of my language diplomas and my Bachelor of Arts degree in Germanic Philology (majoring in English) and French Philology studies at the Universidad de La Laguna in Spain from 1978 to 1984. More recently, I have been studying Danish (B2 level), Norwegian (B2 level), and now Swedish at Scandinavian language academies since 2018.

 I translate from German, English, and French into Spanish (for readers in Spain), as my native language, and also into neutral or LATAM Spanish.

 Experience has taught me that translating should be the result of a reflection about the effects words will have on readers, capturing their attention through the natural flow of ideas and wise word choices and phrasing. I aim to encourage them to keep reading and understand the reason the document was created and what it means to them in terms of action, reaction, knowledge gathering, or useful information.

 My translation services are aimed specifically at technical and manufacturing companies and both business and private clients who wish to count on a translator with extensive experience at affordable prices negotiated directly between us. Each one of my translations is checked, rechecked, and proofread internally by a second translator before delivery. All in all, we review every document about five times.

Over the years, much of my translation work has focused on instruction manuals for mechanical and electrical appliances, instruments and software for chemistry labs, and marketing materials and internal and external communications for large companies. Most recently, I have been translating user interfaces for both learning and enterprise platforms. However, as a philologist, I also specialize in words and in the culture, technologies, and human endeavors words convey. For this reason, I strive to cover other areas as well, such as musical instruments and sound technologies, SaaS, concrete manufacturing, consumer products, and business intelligence services, to name just a few.

 I can only welcome the technological innovations that have made possible the wonder of translations done with AI assistance, a powerful tool in the hands of a language professional. However, AI's results are only apparently 100% correct, as they may contain inconsistencies and both minor and major flaws. Regular client since 2019: This is the electric version of the gas-powered lawn mower, whose instruction manual I already translated in September. It’s fascinating to see how this machine runs on electricity via a physical cord plugged into a regular outlet—just like an iron—but outdoors, and what it “irons” is the lawn. This project was delivered on October 28th, 2026.

Regular client since 2020: Translations for a Dutch manufacturer of advanced household appliances. The most recent assignment was delivered on October 22nd, 2026, and was about a magnetic LED flashlight. This was interesting because it led me to look into the positive aspects, but also the negative aspects, of LED technology as applied to what appears to be a simple light source.

New client in 2026: Translations for an international gym chain. The most recent assignment was delivered on October 13th, 2026. The hundreds of hours I have spent doing spinning at the gym finally came in handy for a translation project.

Regular client since 2024: Proofreading of translations for a Swiss company specializing in digital cutters for a wide range of materials. This project was delivered on October 5th, 2026. For the most  part, the translation was about the new technologies that will be showcased at a major international trade show. This required a more profound understanding of these advancements and refining minor details and nuances that the translator—perhaps due to time constraints—had overlooked. 

Regular client since 2025: Translation for an American company specializing in marketing beauty products and in supporting start-up enterprises' products. As a linguist, it is rewarding to find just the right words for female readers interested in looking their best through makeup and skin-nourishing products. The most recent assignment was delivered on September 28th, 2026.

Regular client since 2014: Post-edition of an AI-generated translation for a Swiss insurance company. This assignment required roughly the same amount of time as a regular human-made translation from the past, but it was interesting to detect the weak links in the AI output and set them right. The post-edited document was delivered on September 21st, 2026.

Regular client since 2019: I have just completed the translation of the instruction manual accompanying a gasoline-powered lawnmower for a private-label tool brand. A three-day deep dive into technical and safety details exploring the mechanical and ergonomic reasons behind each instruction. This project was delivered on September 15th, 2026.

Regular client since 2020: Translation of an instruction manual for a two-cylinder air compressor for a German supermarket chain. Yes, you can buy an air compressor in person at the supermarket itself or online on its website. This translation project was delivered on September 7th, 2026.

New client in 2026: Translations for a British company specializing in premium kitchen equipment. This company's products nicely complement the product lines of other clients of mine in the food service industry, making the translations much easier. Over 2,600 words translated so far and delivered on August 31st, 2026.

Regular client since 2020: Translations for an American company specializing in no-code and cloud-based software. These translations require keeping up with this client's countless innovations and its relationships with other software giants. The most recent assignment was delivered on August 24th, 2026.

New client in 2026: Translations for a German manufacturer of a wide range of household products. Each product embodies a good deal of technical ingenuity, and each translation requires thorough research to capture that ingenuity. The most recent assignment was delivered on August 13th, 2026.

New client in 2026: Translations for a Swiss-based business group company specializing in the development and manufacturing of specialty vehicles. Writing motivational speeches and finding just the right words to inspire people is no easy task. Translating them by paying attention to their musicality, crescendos and diminuendos, and emotional charge is not a walk in the park either. The most recent assignment was delivered on August 5th, 2026.

Regular client since 2020: Translations for an American corporation specializing in companion animal veterinary. It is interesting to observe in each translation how technological advances that benefit human health are also helping improve animal welfare. The most recent assignment was delivered on July 13th, 2026.

New client in 2026: Translations for a Swiss company specializing in hygiene solutions. This translation task involved understanding not only the products but also the logistics implemented by this company to supply them. A complete workday to translate a 2,000-word product description. Delivered on July 6th, 2026.

Regular client since 2020: Translations for a British company specializing in powered loudspeakers. Getting to grips with these highly complex yet widely used devices is quite an experience. As is often the case, researching and understanding the subject took roughly twice as long as the actual translation. The most recent translation project was delivered on July 1st, 2026.

Regular client since 2017: The projects for this client, a Swiss company specializing in high-tech turbochargers, have always required translating and retranslating AI output. The translation still demands many hours of work to gather background information, ensure consistent wording and terminology, and double-check everything. In this case, about 16 hours for a 6,500-word document. The most recent project for this client was delivered on June 23rd, 2026. 

New client in 2026: Proofreading of translations for a German company specializing in laser welding machines. The project involved reviewing almost 10,000 words and creating a terminological database. Delivered on June 16th, 2026.

Regular client since 2021: Translations of several manuals for different models of wood band saw machines, about 12,000 words. The project was delivered on June 1st, 2026. It was not easy to find the terminology used on the shop floor and to understand the complexity of the mechanisms and various components that boost productivity and improve operator safety.

Regular client since 2026: Translations for a Dutch company specializing in the production of winches and hoists. The project involved the translation of about 50,000 words and was delivered on May 25th, 2026. A three-week-long immersion into the world of mechanics and the laws of physics that underlie the functioning of these invaluable devices.

Regular client since 2021: Translations for an international home improvement products brand. On average, over 30,000 words have been translated for them on my desk per year. The most recent assignments were delivered on April 27th, 2026. A solid client whose diverse production has allowed me to learn a world about both mechanical and electric DIY tools.

Regular client since 2020: Translations for a German hotel chain. Approx. 14,000 words so far. The most recent assignment was delivered on April 14th, 2026. Having worked as a child and teenager in my family's modest hotel certainly helps me find the right words!

Regular client since 2025: Translations for an American company specializing in synthesizers and keyboard controllers. The most recent assignment was delivered on April 6th, 2026. They do not know it, but synthesizers instill pride in translators who manage to understand them!
