I am a graduate in Italian language and literature and have an MA and a PhD, all from Trinity College Dublin. I have passed, with a grade of 83%, Level 4 (C2, Proficiency) of the Certificato d'Italiano come Lingua Straniera (CILS). I have published a book in English (Mussolini in the First World War, Oxford and New York, Berg, 2005) and a number of academic articles in both English and Italian. I have lived and worked in Italy for 18 years as a language teacher and translator, and as a part-time university lecturer in Italian and modern European history both in Ireland and Italy. I have translated many types of document, my biggest projects being geological reports and gasification power plants. I have done quite a lot of proofreading, especially of legal documents.
