German term

Folienaufdruck

German to English Tech/Engineering Printing & Publishing
"Produktauszeichnung ist auf folgende Weise möglich:
- auf Verpackungen (z.B. als Folienaufdruck)"

Is this "printed on film"? I presume they print the label onto the plastic packaging. Another possibility is "als Aufdruck auf Kartoneinlegern", so I imagine they offer a choice of inserting a card with the logo on, or printing it directly on the packaging.

Discussion

Jérôme Faytre Dec 6, 2005:
Druckfilm is more a repro issue, does not inform on printed item itself. Folienaufdruck would normally be a transfer print, printing on a film and transfering further on shirts, paper, and even plastic bottles (melted in the last case).

context The only real context is as given in my previous query, Druckfilm. The company are providing a template of a quality label for companies to use on their internal packaging and advertising materials. This comes up in a list of different ways that the label can be used.

need more context. you print on the film and transfer on the packaging (I would say incl. film on paper/board, without the film on bottles)

...film imprinting...

It sounds like it is printed directly on the film or plastic.

package, foil, label

Instead of a direct translation for 'Folie' I would suggest, 'printed directly onto the package'. Otherwise, be more specific if that fits the context. ie. printed on foil, or a label
