The context is a power of attorney, under a list of powers the representative has with regard to a piece of real property:
"....farsi prestare le garanzie di legge, eventualmente riconoscere ed accettare servitù, oneri reali o precari,..."
I'm thinking it has to do with some kind of encumbrance on the land, but I can't figure out exactly what.
