Să analizăm puţin textul sursă (am evidenţiat nişte cuvinte-cheie):

Cred că oamenii care se ocupă de întreţinerea terenurilor nu s-ar îngrijora dacă nişte canguri doar ar "consuma/trăi de pe urma" plantelor care stabilizează dunele.
Problema este că aceştia ameninţă să distrugă complet plantele stabilizatoare ale dunelor atunci când le pasc în număr mare, ceea ce este exact păşunatul excesiv: distrugerea vegetaţiei de către animale prin păşunat, lucru care afectează solul.
