English term

bipolar mania

English Medical Medical (general)
Is it specifically used to refer to mania episodes in bipolar disorder or is just another synonym for bipolar disorder? Yes I am aware that bipolar disorder includes various episodes including mania, but unfortunately ICD-10 does not make synonimity very clear in this case.

I am asking this question in the Engish monolingual hoping that those medical specialists who are native English speakers are familiar with the real life use of the term.

Thanks in advance for your help.

bipolar mania

This term is specifically used to refer to mania episodes in bipolar disorder. The opposite of bipolar mania is bipolar depression, both of which occur in people who suffer from bipolar disorder.

I am not a medical expert but have read quite a bit about this particular disease.
