Пожалуйста растолкуйте чем "shares" отличаются от "stock". Лингво уравнивает "class of shares" с "class of stock". Контекст следующий: "the total number of shares of all classes of stock which the Corporation shall have authority to issue is 875,000, consisting of 275,000 shares of Class A Stock of the par value of $100 per share, being a preferred stock". Что в этом случае значит "Class A Stock" и "preferred stock"? Спасибо.

"stock" is a class (Class A, Preference, etc) ...
and each class is divided into shares. Often the two words are synonymous: he holds IBM stock/he holds IBM shares/he holds shares in IBM stock.

You could say "shares in all classes of shares", but that would sound strange in English. The sentence says that the total number of shares issued across all classes cannot exceed 875,000, of which 275,000 can be Class A (Preference shares). That leaves 600,000 shares for the other classes (probably Ordinary Shares).
