German term

Hoffnungen auf ein erweitertes Angebot

German to English Tech/Engineering Computers: Software Excel
Die erfahrenen Anwender werden schnell erkennen, dass die Hoffnungen auf ein erweitertes Angebot von Diagrammtypen leider nicht erfüllt worden sind.

Can anyone pls help me with the translation of ,,Hoffnungen auf ein erweitertes Angebot". Perhaps something like "hopes of receiving extended chart types", even though I know that Angebot means offer/offering, etc.
Change log

Aug 19, 2008 06:12: Ulrike Kraemer changed "Level" from "Non-PRO" to "PRO"

Votes to reclassify question as PRO/non-PRO:

PRO (1): Astrid Elke Witte

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.

How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:

An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)

A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).

Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.

* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

'Hope' to this non-NS sounds inappropriate as it's a business software not a religious sect.
Peer comment(s):

agree Armorel Young : I like this - it sounds natural in English even if it is slightly leses close to the original German

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Danke sehr. I've gone with this suggestion as it sounds more natural to me (agree with Armorel). Text I'm translating is super-informal, which is more of a hindrance than a help, believe me! :-)"

the hope for an expanded range of graph types

Pretty flowery for computer stuff, if you ask me.

Sounds like the user is looking for a button to display more types of graphs, but cannot find one because it is not there.
