Липсващият контекст - че се касае за фамилия клапани с (почти) еднаква конструкция, но с различно реагиране/отваряне поради специфичното оформяне на контактните (прилягащи) повърхности на затвора и неговото гнездо, а вероятно и на останалите повърхности на затвора - би бил много полезен за по-точни отговори

: Вие сте прав, че става дума за оформяне (physical shape!!|. Но това, което се оформя - (plug and seat) - формира затвора на клапана. Също така анализирайки граматически изречението е ясно че терминът valve trim се отнася за комбинацията от "plug and seat

при анализа сте изпуснали "arrangement", което променя смисъла - става въпрос за формата (сечението) на потока през клапана, а не за затвора му (plug, shutter, ..)
