Loss of 8kg of fluid Explanation: From the context, and based on my experience of cardiology, it seems likely that the patient was massively overloaded with fluid as a result of the severe heart failure. Once diuretic therapy was instigated, the patient lost 8kg in weight, all of which was due to fluid. It's actually quite remarkable, the amount of fluid that people can accumulate as a result of heart failure... So perhaps "The patient lost 8kg in weight following diuresis", or something along those lines? |

Reference: Ausschwemmung Reference information: the prefix aus- seems to indicate fluid going out, as one would expect :), as in diuresis, flooding, elimination; according to Wörterbuch der Medizin und Pharmazeutik Deutsch-Englisch Werner E. Bunjes 3. neubearbeitete Auflage Georg Thieme Verlag |
