This is a text about (dark) fibre optic networks. THese must be the boxes/cabinets/ or whatever along the route, so some kind of physical structure which can be physically protected against intrusion. I just don't know the term used and so wondered if there was an expert out there who did!

Explanation:
Or "pull-through" or sometimes just "draw chamber/pit". These are holes in the ground enabling wiring/cabling contractors to drag the cables through the conduits.

Gosh, you have completely misunderstood my post! I had received only one answer to my question which was immensely helpful. What I meant what, I understood exactly what it referred to (i.e. drawing or laying cables) but I did not know exactly what term was used for the cabinet/box or whatever. I viewed a few of the entries for draw-through but still decided to post in case (as is often the case) someone would be kind enough to share their experience. I read all answers to my questions, and would never dismiss anyone! My sincerest apologies if I have conveyed any other approach.

Your comment "In any case, I was really after specialist knowledge..." does seem rather rudely dismissive of other past contributors, who (had you taken the trouble to look) might well have provided equally expert and authoritative answers.
