En bon fonds d'investissement

French to English Bus/Financial Investment / Securities
This is talking about a buyback/repurchase program and it says:

'En bon fond d'investissement qui agit à horizon de cinq ans maximum, X préconise enfin un rachat d'actions pour au moins 50 millions d'euros générés par la valorisation de l'immobilier du groupe'

Thanks!

as a well-run investment fund

"en bon fonds d'investissement"
=>
"as a well-run investment fund"
"bon" is there to underline that the way the fund in managed is a good one - (close to the idea of "due diligence"); to remind that the management team is the opposite of incompentent/ignorant/reckless;
"well-run" is a good option - shorter than "soundly managed".

example:
"Managed Mutual Funds
Well-run managed funds that have long-term performance records that are above their peer and category benchmarks are also excellent investing opportunities. There are a number of top-rated fund managers that consistently deliver exceptional results. Such well-run funds will register very high on the Fund Investment-Quality Scorecard you are learning about in these pages. ... "

Thanks!
agree writeaway : ignoring the 'bon' is just a cop-out. it's not there by accident. I can imagine there are other adjectives that would do the trick too, not just well-run.

"soundly managed" and probably many others if you search well

As a duly diligent investment fund

something like that
Peer comment(s):

neutral writeaway : something like that? so sort of but not really? /neutral doesn't necessarily mean it's wrong. It's a wishy-washy explanation for someone who needs to how to translate it.

I'm French, not English, and gave an indication of the meaning of "En bon fonds d'investissement". By the way, you didn't say where it was faulty?
neutral philgoddard : I think you're being a bit pedantic here, Writeaway.

neutral MatthewLaSon : Hello. That is the idea in French, but we wouldn't really say that in English. I prefer just "legitimate". It's possible to not translate, though, as "bon" is a filler word in French that is clearly implied without, imho. Take care.

as an investment fund

I can't find any evidence to support my answer, but I don't think 'en bon' has any qualitative connotations. I just don't think it would be appropriate in this context to say 'as a good investment fund' or, as Frédéric suggests, 'a duly diligent investment fund'. It just means 'as an investment fund with a maximum horizon of five years'.
Peer comment(s):

disagree Daryo : what about "bon"? it's there just as a fioriture?

agree Marco Solinas : That is right. the "bon" just stresses the capacity.

That's what I think.
neutral writeaway : sorry, but the leave-it-out option really doesn't work here.
