English term

twist and shift

English to Spanish Art/Literary Art, Arts & Crafts, Painting Art exhibit - juror state
Same context as my previous question, a juror's statement for an art exhibit. Thank you for your help. Context:

It was as much a pleasure as it was an honor to juror the III Biennial 2013, and to see the accomplished works by so many artists living alongside a grand North American border. As a curator who regularly deals with issues of bicultural identity, transnational effects, and consistently complicated histories, it was exciting to review artwork created within this region—where two worlds twist and shift and form a unique state (of mind). Working from the distant city of Chicago, it is especially clear that we relentlessly construct and participate in an American culture that has no borders.

Discussion

George Rabel Apr 17, 2013:
nuevo y diferente I f you want to preserve the "unique" part, then maybe "un estado de conciencia nuevo y diferente" might work.
teju (asker) Apr 17, 2013:
Your opinion, please: do you think it's important to preserve "unique" here? it says "and form a unique state (of mind)".
teju (asker) Apr 17, 2013:
Pressed "send" too soon I meant to add what follows. The whole question should be:

twist and shift and form a unique state (of mind)

Having state of mind separated by a parenthesis changes the way it should be translated. Perhaps the author was trying to stress both meanings, "form a unique state" and "forms a unique state of mind". I welcome all answers and comments.

entrelazar

where two worlds twist and shift and form a unique state (of mind.)
donde dos mundos diferentes se entrelazan y forman una nueva conciencia
If you want to preserve the word play with "state," then...un nuevo estado (de conciencia).
