Portuguese term

taxa liberatoria

Portuguese to English Bus/Financial Law: Taxation & Customs
From Portugal, discussion of changes in tax law: os rendimentos de capital, juros, dividendos e mais-valias referidos nos Articles 71.º e 72.º ... são taxados à taxa liberatória única de 28%. And, also .......manifesta falta de equidade na repartição dos sacrifícios entre os rendimentos do trabalho e os rendimentos provenientes de outras fontes”, que se situa a referência aos rendimentos sujeitos a taxa liberatória. I think this could be a one-time withholding tax on certain transactions.

agree Vítor Cortes : A withholding tax, also called a retention tax, is a government requirement for the payer of an item of income to withhold or deduct tax from the payment, and pay that tax to the government.
