Urteilskopf

German to English Law/Patents Law (general)
This is from a Swiss court document. I think that it means 'case', or 'case header', but I am not quite sure. I would be grateful for any suggestions.

Asker you say "court document " but what is it exactly? a detailed judgment? something else?

regeste > res gestae Perhaps regeste is a corruption of res gestae that is a Latin concept in the Anglo-Am-. law of evidence. That is not a case label, but refers to a chain of (short-lived, 'screaming blue murder') events, e.g. in criminal law https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Res_gestae

I think you're both correct. Unfortunately it doesn't work here. It says 'Urteilskopf' in the upper left hand corner, above the case number. Then, below the case number 'Regeste', which I belief is 'caption' or 'facts'

Das Rubrum (Plur. Rubra oder auch Rubren) ist die einem Schriftstück vorangestellte kurze Zusammenfassung seines Inhalts, im einfachsten Fall eine Betreffzeile. Ein Rubrum dient ganz allgemein dazu, den nach ihm folgenden Inhalt schon am Anfang richtig einordnen zu können (in die richtige Rubrik). Bei amtlichen Gebührenbescheiden oder Rechnungen ist im Rubrum neben dem Betreff auch die Rechtsgrundlage aufgeführt.

I agree with Donald that "rubrum" is what comes to mind; depending on the context, "caption" might be a good alternative - see reference below (Swiss document)

Infolge eines Versehens wurde dabei im Urteilskopf Frau Bundesrichterin Klett als mitwirkende Präsidentin aufgeführt.

Due to an oversight Mrs Federal Judge Klett was captioned in the judgment as the presiding judge.

Caption and rubrum are not used in UK case reports.

BTW, rubric in US Fed. law and 'initulment' in BrE & NzE is the title of a statute.

Caption again is AmE fot the heading of legal doc.
