Has anyone come across this expression in this context:
This is a list of 12k unique captions (of total 180k) for eyeglass frames and sunglasses marketed by a French company intent on entering the UK and international markets. It's an excel list and there is no visual context. The company isn't a manufacturer, it's a distributor. This translation seems to be part of laying the groundwork for a big-bang launch soon.

Lots of ways of saying this, but I go along with the discussion where it is about varying styles of arms. In terms of "volume", I read this as "width".

@Rimas Balsys : I too reckong this ia about choice of width and forms of the arms. It's a fashion thing. Sometimes skippy frames/arms are "in", at other times it's wide or even tapering. At the moment, all sorts of possibilities seem to be "in". Glasses are a fashion accessory; "face furniture" one of my college friends used to call them!

agree with Phil. When talking about cubic space in architecture the word "volume" can be used but in this context "size" is correct and means, the length of the frame's temples or arms. "Dimensions" might alo be used. Of course different materials will give varying thicknesss to the temple as well but the length of the arm or temple is the main measurement

As "Jeu" can also mean a set I'm not too sure what is meant (esp. After Charles' clever sleuthing), but I think 'thickness' indicates 3D better than width

play of shapes
I think they're talking about a play of shapes on the branches of the sunglasses/glasses. Some sort of interesting or unusual design, or perhaps just curvy lines. Hard to say without a photo, but this is how I would translate it.
