femoral cortex
Another option. I think "la cortical" is often translated as cortex. so femoral cortex is one way of saying it.

cortical bone/substance of the femur
I think the reason it's feminine ("la cortical") may be because its referring to "sustancia cortical" rather than "hueso cortical".
cortical bone [TA]
the superficial thin layer of compact bone. SYN: substantia corticalis [TA], cortical substance.
Stedman's Medical Dictionary
What is Cortical Bone
Cortical bone is also called compact bone or lamellar bone.
Shaft of bone in a long bone like femur is typical example of the cortical bone.
Cortical bone forms the cortex, or outer shell, of most bones. It is much denser than cancellous bone, harder, stronger and stiffer. Cortical bone contributes about 80% of the weight of a human skeleton.

El hueso compacto en el cuerpo, o eje, que rodea la cavidad medular es la sustancia cortical. La arquitectura del hueso esponjoso y compacto varía de acuerdo a la función. El hueso compacto proporciona resistencia para soportar el peso.
