Hello,

From a brain MRI report:

"En T2, la substance blanche sus-tentorielle prei-ventriculaire est fortement hyper-intense"

English seems to prefer the noun form of this - "hyperintensities". But how would this be phrased?
Can anyone help provide a correct translation and explanation?

Explanation:
I would say "is significantly hyperintense"

Hyperintense on an MRI means "more white" in appearance with regard to the surrounding tissue.

You could consider translating "hyper-intense" and "la substance blanche" by saying "white matter hyperintensities" but then I think the sentence might start sounding a bit awkward with all of the other adjectives, IMHO.

agree  philgoddard: I wouldn't translate "fortement". That's already covered by "hyper".

  -> It does seem a bit redundant, but then articles do seem to describe "mild" as well as "significant" hyperintensity so I can only imagine that it means that some hyperintensities are whiter than others
