Explanation:
Si tratta di razzi a propellente solido (vedi sotto- Shuttle) o liquido che servono a ottenere la spinta e la velocità desiderata (ma possono avere altri impieghi in campo militare, non credo sia il tuo caso dato che parla di evlocità).

I Booster - I razzi recuperabili sono sistemati ai lati del grande serbatoio sotto la pancia della navetta. Chiamati dai tecnici SRB (solid rocket booster), costruiti dalla Thiokol ed alti circa 45 metri essi sono i più grandi razzi a propellente solido che abbiano mai volato. Vengono accesi al momento 0 del conto alla rovescia (T-0) e bruciano per 123 secondi, dopo di che si spengono a circa 50 chilometri di quota e vengono sganciati dal serbatoio principale.
