"Die Verfilmungen der Romane Barbara Woods und Rosamunde Pilchers steigern die bereits gute Auslastung der Effekt-Unternehmen, denn die Quotenbringer erfahren nunmehr ebenfalls ihrer Produktion ab Werk.

As far as I understand, the word Quotenbringer is referring to the film versions of these novels which bring about high audience figures, but I can't for the life of me think of an English equivalent - has anyone got any suggestions. Thanks for your help!

Thank you all very much for your suggestions and yes, it is a test translation (how did you know that Sven?) Although quote grabber is possibly more of an accurate translation (thank you very much for the detailed explanations, Mary) and I believe that it exists, I don't really like the word, so I've actually ended up plumping for blockbuster.

You have been given some really good answers here. However, "blockbuster" is not the appropriate term here. Blockbuster is used in the context of feature films (theatrical release). The movies based on Pilcher's books, however, are what we call "movies of the week" or "movies-made-for-TV"; therefore, the term "blockbuster" does not apply.

In the TV industry, the only term used for "Quoten" is ratings. So, go with "ratings winner", "ratings grabber", "ratings magnet" or paraphrase it (e.g., "pulling in tremendous ratings").
