Spanish term

unidad de resistencia

Spanish to English Tech/Engineering Electronics / Elect Eng part of an electric fryer
This is one of the parts of an electric fryer. Is it the heating element?

It appears in full in the list of components referring to the diagram of the appliance (which unfortunately I don't have available) but it is also referred to in the text as "la resistencia", e.g.:

"Gire el termostato hasta la temperatura deseada. La resistencia calentará el aceite."

heating element

My Spanish is not that good but in this case it is very similar to Italian so it seems it really is a heating element:

If heating element is exposed there is high probability of a flash fire from the oil.

Once the oil is at the right level, turn the temperature knob at the top of the machine to the desired temperature.

Place paper towels over the back of the fryer and lift the heating element from the holding tank. The paper towels will catch the grease that drips from the element.

If lumps of fat are used, cut the lumps into pieces and melt them in another container, then pour the melted
fat into the deep fryer bowl. Never melt the fat in the basket or on the deep fryer heating element
(see Fig. 6).

agree psicutrinius : "resistencia" in this context, translates as "resistor", but in this case, I guess that "heating element" or unit is the best one (as the reader is NOT SUPPOSED TO BE any expert electrician)

Yes, you're right! I had found "resistor" in my technical dictionary but "heating element" seemed to work as well :-) Thanks!
