this is a bibliographic reference

Discussion

BelkisDV Jul 13, 2004:
No, like Jane said do not capitalize WEBER (the last name) for example. Punctuation is one of the most important aspects of bibliographies, look for examples on the internet.
Non-ProZ.com (asker) Jul 13, 2004:
what I'd like to know is how to make bibliographic reference, is this one ok?
Jane Lamb-Ruiz (X) Jul 13, 2004:
what is your question? there is no translation here. I'd check the punctuation and capitalization though...you don't translate bibliography. You edit it.

Jane is right, but I'd like to mention that in scientific literature and certain journals, the last name can be capitalized. I would also italicize the book title, and change the las part to: place of publication: publisher, year.

There are many different style guides, but the Chicago Manual of Style is the one my clients generally follow. HTH...
Peer comment(s):

agree pawlik : Yes, above all you have to italicize the book title, or do something with it. As you say, there are different style guides, but you have to make clear where the name stops and the title begins.

neutral Jane Lamb-Ruiz (X) : actually there's some mistake..no caps in English..for example

No caps in Spanish either, we both agree that the asker should not translate a bibliographical reference, that's all.

agree David Russell : Yes, and it must surely depend on where it is going to be published, if at all.
