Spanish term

apuesta

Spanish to English Other Finance (general) fund / stock market
What does "apuesta" mean? This is about the Russian stock market
...... Ya ha ganado un 69% gracias a la APUESTA por las acciones, certificados de acciones y otros valores de este mercado.

It has been translated as "bets", but I cannot believe that this is correct in the context.

Hi. You're right, of course, it's nothing to do with betting. You'll find many possibilities for this rather troublesome word in the glossaries. Andy

agree marybro : invest in(in this case)...apostar en la bolsa...carries a risk (some would say it is like betting)

speculation

Meaning short term buying/selling stocks for quick profits. Of course it is a form of gambling. No one can guarantee you profit or that you will not lose part or all of your "investment".
