the "metal-mechanical" field

would be the literal translation of this phrase. However, its meaning might be more clear to an English-reading audience if you expanded it slightly; for example, "the area consisting of metallurgy and mechanical engineering." If the context of your document allows, you could specify the area as industrial, research, educational, etc. HTH!

See below

without additional context I would say:
...the "metals-mechanics" branch...
or
..the branch "mechanics of metals"...

each of them means something different.

Good luck!

If your context supports it, here's another option: "the metals and mechanical-equipment field." -- This English version would be most appropriate for a working industrial context, as opposed to a research or educational context, in which "metallurgy and mechanical engineering" would be more suitable.

the metal fabrication industry

This is so cool! I had *exactly* the same question a couple of months ago. I found out the answer by entering the word "metal-mecánica" into several different keyword-type search engines, & looking at the websites of various "metal-mecánica" companies that turned up in the search, especially some that showed photos of their product. The exact phrase you would choose in English would depend on context... it might be "the metal fabrication equipment manufacturing industry", or "the metal fabrication engineering industry", or something else similar.
