Some 18 people attended the powwow at Barlovento in Viña del Mar on 8 July. Madalena Reyes, the event organizer, got the evening off to a good start, welcoming us all and asking each person to briefly introduce themself.
It turned out to be a really good mix of people from a variety of backgrounds, of different ages and from different countries, including France, the United States, Italy, Russia, Argentina and the United Kingdom and of course lots of people from Chile. However, it must be said that there were a lot more women than men! Some people already knew each other, whilst for others it was a welcome opportunity to meet other people who work as translators. Some were well-versed in the advantages and opportunities offered by ProZ whilst others were new and had come along to find out more about it.
Magdalena spoke briefly about Proz and what it offers. Viviana Espinosa made a very brief presentation about ATIVA, the Association of Translators and Interpreters of Valparaíso. Then the evening became more relaxed and informal with people sharing information and getting to know one another. It was a lively evening and late when people began to drift away, already talking about when the next event would be held.

Fue súper bueno vernos en una instancia tan entretenida. Algunas nos fuimos medio "arriba de la pelota", pero dignas hasta el fin... Buena conversación, buena compañía... todo genial. Que se repita luego (no lo de "arriba de la pelota", el encuentro).
Estuvo genial el Powwow y creo que todos quedamos con gusto a poco... así es que de todas maneras implantaremos una "Stamtisch" (como se dice en Alemania, cuando se reunen personas con una frecuencia determinada con un propósito en común)...
Helen se ofreció para hacer el informe en inglés... yo hago uno en español y enviaré las fotos en cuanto pueda.
