gambling machine
You should not use the same abbreviation (does not mean anything similar in English), and it is not a vending machine.
Vending machine (prodejní automat) - insert money, get coffee
Gaming machine (herní/hrací automat) - insert money, play a game (pinball)
Gambling machine (výherní hrací automat) - insert money, get nothing :-) or maybe a large sum of money (if you "win")
Vending machine (prodejní automat) - insert money, get coffee
Gaming machine (herní/hrací automat) - insert money, play a game (pinball)

Comment: "The term slot machines is used but is too colloquial for the text in hand. I needed to distinguish clearly between gambling machines and gaming machines. Thank you anyway."
