I was running out of space above but pretty sure both positions rank equal. We don\'t have the same hierarchical system here. Salaries would be on a par.

agree  Ghyslaine LE NAGARD: Yes for "University Professor" - a lecturer in france can be some without the university required qualifications to teach but with a highly recognised knowledge in his field ex: Raymond DEVOS well know French comic who gives lectures in universities

agree  Lindsay Sabadosa (X): At my university (US), a lecturer had to have the same qualifications as a prof (i.e. PhD) but was basically an entry level prof. It went lecturer, assistant prof, full prof (tenured). Maybe be different depending on the school.
