word meaning the same as cinch in "cinch for something"

English Other Cinema, Film, TV, Drama
Hi,

I was wondering if anyone could help me, please.

I'm looking for a synonym for "cinch" as in "cinch for", defined as "a person or thing certain to fulfill an expectation, esp. a team or contestant certain to win a sporting event: The Giants are a cinch to win Sunday's game."

Thank you,

Simon

a shoo in

If it can be a bit slangy.
The Giants are a shoo in for Saturday's game.

"Shoo in," as it is properly spelled, was originally a racetrack term, and was (and still is) applied to a horse expected to easily win a race, and, by extension, to any contestant expected to win an easy victory. According to the Oxford English Dictionary, the first use of the term in print dates back to 1928

racing cert, red-hot favourite

Here's another option; in the UK, it's frequently used, a wee bit tongue-in-cheek, because we all know that even red-hot favourites (which is another term) can lose...and aven Bayern lost one of their last matches at home to the HSV last year, if I remember correctly...

agree Fan Gao : I'd go with this one, especially as an alternative for the suggested sentence.
