English term

What is "un-" in malay?

English to Malay Other Computers (general) All can be applied
To the Otais of Malay translators. What is "un" actually in BM?

Eg. unchecked as in unchecked a box or anoption that you have chosen under a drop down menu? I have problem with this as this is a help document and the word un is typed in this "|un|-check the box" way. Any suggestions, esp those who have experience in doing help documentation.

TQ..

How about "un-follow", how to translate in Malay?
Eg. Un-follow the blog post

Proposed translations

Selected

tidak/tak/jangan

In the context you asked, below is how it should be written:

"|un|-check the box" => "|jangan|-tanda kotak"

or

"|un|-check the box" => tanda/jangan tanda kotak

buangkan (in this context only)

uncheck (and not uncheckED, right?) a box...

buangkan tanda di dalam petak...

This box is already checked (sudah ditandakan) because the sentence goes to say "that you HAVE chosen".

[I'm getting nervous with your questions. Make sure your Help document can be easily understood in Malay if it is going to be used to actually help users!]

Dear Aniza, it's OK about the points, not important. FYI, when a team of 4 of us translated Yahoo!, "buangkan tanda" is what we used for "uncheck". You can continue asking here, no problem. There are many helpful people here. If one of us doesn't know the answer, another one might.
Note from asker:
You are nervous? I am even worst!! Honestly, it is very challenging for me as this is my first REAL big job. The rest have always been small ones. But I am determined and I know there are friends to ask for help, :-) TQ.
I choose buang after reviewing and searching. I gave yours a 4 but I dunno what happen. Tq for your contribution.
