: Best not to use korean and belgian websites as reference points for correct english usage methinks...;-) leave is always singular - you would never say 'special leaves' - unless you were talking about a particularly splendid form of foliage...

After a death of a close relative or friend it is customary for the bereaved person to be allowed three days of compassionate leave from work. This is often not sufficient time for the funeral to be arranged or for the bereaved person to recover sufficiently emotionally. Some people find it very difficult to return to work whereas others find work diverts their mind away from grief.

: taki urlop jest przyznawany jedynie na tragiczne wypadki w rodzinie. Nie dotyczy ślubów, czy narodzin dziecka, a więc ma ograniczony zakres. Vide - przpisi szczegółowe w poszczególnych instytucjach

exceptional leave / unscheduled leave
These are two more possibilities for you to consider.
Exceptional leave is... leave granted in exceptional circumstances... this might include bereavement, or urgent personal reasons of another sort.

For Bartek - yes, I now see that the circumstantial leave comes from an Aussie reference... I think this may be a term used down under (and maybe in the States too???) but it is not one that is familiar for a British English speaker... if the translation is designed for use in Oz - then perfect!!

family leave
My two cents: Some time ago I was not quite sure how to translate "family leave" into Polish. I posted a query and received interesting feedback, which shows that the term can be suitable here, provided we talk about American English usage AND IT IS SOMEHOW RELATED TO FAMILY MEMBERS.
Let me quote the original question:

Context: "The most senior person on his staff-a woman who had worked for the acquiring company-was about to return from an extended family leave, and he was convinced that he couldn't ask her for help."
- Is this some sort of a "care leave" or "child care leave"?
and comments:
"Very similar, except that it is often extended to care for other family members, especially a spouse.
Family leave can be used pretty broadly. It might mean the woman had had a baby (though this more typically would be referred to with the narrower phrase "maternity leave"). It also could cover, e.g., leave to attend the funeral of a family member, though that presumably wouldn't be "extended".
and another one: Right: its a leave for family reasons. ANY family reasons: to take care of a sick family member, to help a child deal with a drug/drink addiction, anything.
Read the "family" in "family leave" as an adjective meaning "family-related"; compare with "sick leave".

an emergency leave
It would be an emergency leave if it was for a funeral, for birth of a child it would be a maternity leave. It could also be an emergency if the child decided to be born unexpectedly.
