English term

AA pre-emptive bid

English to German Bus/Financial Accounting accounting
involves a summary income statement for a company providing catering and other types of services to airlines

(A) Forecast 1 includes the impact of a short war in the mid-east, AA pre-emptive bid and preliminary cost savings estimates. it does not inclue the impact of a bankruptcy for a major U.S. carrier.

Anyone have any idea what this might be,and what it would be in German?

Thanks in advance for any help!

vorgreifendes Übernahmeangebot durch AA (AMR)

Difficult to say without knowing which companies we're talking about, but here's how I read it: given that we're talking about the aviation industry in general, I understand "AA" to refer to "American Airlines" - whether AA itself will make that bid is uncertain without knowing the background. "Pre-emptive" could refer to an impending bankruptcy of the company in question (or, probably more likely, its parent - yes, I'm thinking UAL here...) that AA (or rather its holding company AMR Corp.) would use to aggressively pick out parts of a group. Equally probable, this could be the view of a competitor.

Enough guessing...

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "I realize the content I provided did not allow for a certain answer. The customer's resonse 'vorgezogenes (präventives) Angebot' doesn't explain that much either. Since 'vorgreifendes' implies an element of timing and therefore, to me, comes the closest to vorgezogenes, I selected this answer. But I would like to thank you both very much for your help! "

Vorzugssangebot der AA (American Airlines)

pre-emptive (according to Eurodicautom and LEO) is Vorzug and Vorkauf resp., AA could be American Airlines.

neutral Ralf Lemster : Sorry, you lost me here - what does a "Vorzugsangebot" mean in practical terms?

this is a general translation for pre-emptive bid - it concerns all kinds of special conditions in take-over of companies, delivery schedules, payment conditions, meal plans, etc. Due to the general context of the question I decided for this translation.
