Spanish term or phrase: Distancias ciegas
Please can someone help translate "distancias ciegas" in the context of a Spanish lift (elevator) installation manual, as in the following phrase:

Puertas de emergencia en distancias ciegas > 11m (excepto cabinas adyacentes con p.socorro según apartado XXX).

I can't find any references to "blind distances" via Google searches.

Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

The phrase is needed asap.

Explanation:
There isn't much to go on but it could refer to the dimensions of a blind sector of the hoistway. Generally the hoistway serves all floors of the building but in some buildings an elevator may not stop on special floors like maintenance or technical areas. However, if the car stops in a blind hoistway due to a power failure or other fault there must be an emergency door to allow passengers to exit. The "distancia ciega" would be the length of the blind hoistway sector.

Many thanks folks!! I used your "blind sections of hoistway" suggestion as that seemed clearest in this instance, though of course "blind hoistway" would also work just fine.
