Op gennem den første halvdel af det 20. århundrede udbyggedes hovedparten af det vestlige
Frederiksberg vest for Fasanvejs-linjen. Kommunen havde nu fået en række instrumenter til at styre
bebyggelsesudviklingen, hvorfor den her blev mere regelmæssig, åben og opdelt efter byggeriets art:
Enten særlige kvarterer med etagebyggeri, parkanlæg, industrikvarterer eller kulissebyggeri med
etagehuse langs de gennemgående veje og bagvedliggende vidtstrakte villakvarterer.
