Spanish term

cobertura de las atenciones

Spanish to English Law/Patents Law (general) Corporate law
This appears in a Spanish company's bylaws, specifically in the clause regarding the directors' remuneration:

"La retribución... consistirá en una participación en las ganancias..., dejando a salvo la cobertura de las atenciones y reconocimiento del dividendo mínimo a favor de los accionistas."

Discussion

Robert Carter Mar 5, 2019:
Most references seem to point to the idea that it means "healthcare coverage," but in the context, that would be unusual in my experience. Having said that, I'm far more familiar with corporate bylaws in Mexico than I am those used in Spain.

atenciones estatutarias

In Spain, "atenciones estatutarias" means a share in profits for directors as established in the Articles of Association ("estatutos" - nothing to do with "statutory").

Yes, it's a form of profit-sharing. However, in your problem sentence, it's not clear whether the "atenciones" in this case are for all shareholders. From the text you quote, it seems somebody gets a share in profits once the directors' have had their "atenciones" and any mandatory dividend has been paid out to shareholders.
Note from asker:
So, these particular directors get two different types of profit shares for directors (i.e., the "participación en las ganancias" and the "atenciones estatutarias")?

agree Robert Carter : Ah, I've never seen that before. The article is from the seventies, is the term still used today?
