There are legal differences among them; some phrases for the words you are looking for:

csőd (the business goes on): liquidation, bankruptcy, failure, failed to meet entirely, insolvency

felszámolás (it can goes on in case agreement with the creditors, otherwise it ends its activity): failure, windup

végelszámolás (the business is closed down at the end of the process): break-even status


The appropriate words depend on even the context.

I didn\'t want and wouln\'t like to give total explanations what are in these phrases involved. Unfortunatelly they are very often used in inappropriate ways by public.

The words I provided you are suitable to emphase all these Hungarian phrases properly in any contexts in English. They refer to the substance of the word.

On the other hand if they shouldn\'t be appropriate, there are some business-legal terminology in which these words would also be used in improper ways.

Explanation:
Let's make this fully clear!

csőd: bankruptcy
felszámolás: termination/liquidation/dissolution/winding up etc. ORDERED BY A COURT (or other state authority)
végelszámolás: VOLUNTARY termination/liquidation/dissolution/winding up etc.

Unfortunately, the terminology is not consistent and crystal clear in the English translation of the „2006. évi IV. törvény a gazdasági társaságokról” (→Act IV of 2006 on Business Associations) either.
