Dear Alp, this word is translated into English as "Saint", that is why it accompanies names of most Armenian churches and other religious and charity buildings, e.g. "Surp Pirgich" in English is "Saint Saviour", or "Surp Stepanos" is "Saint Stephen". Hope this explanation was helpful.
