As I understand it 对标车 usually refers to the original vehicle used as the basis of a copycat design, for example, the Range Rover Evoque is the 对标车 for the LandWind X7. LandWind X7的对标车：Range Rover Evoque.

In English "benchmark" usually refers to a standard or reference against which new models are compared. In China 标杆车 has a broader (and greyer) meaning.
Anyway I think "benchmark" is the best translation because the intended meaning/use may be entirely legitimate.
