I think Lone and I are both right. Like in the case of Boot vs. Trunk, Americans and Brits can't seem to agree on names for car parts.
I went back to Google and found that the hits for "electric sun roof" came mostly from .co.uk domains.
Here are the results:

Bearing in mind the relative sizes of the American and British English speaking worlds on the net, this makes OK sense to me.
