Dutch term

Deppreparaat: Perhaps \"smear\"? Perhaps \"imprint\"?

Dutch to English Medical Medical (general) Oncology - Netherlands Pathology report
This term, DEPPREPARAAT, comes from a Netherlands pathology report on an excised inguinal lymph gland. Text is a one-line addendum to a vertical listing of background information (date received, date reported, etc.), preceding both the Macroscopy and Microscopy sections, i.e., it is presented as belonging to neither of those sections. It reads as follows:

"Toevoeging pathologie: = deppreparaat van XXX-YYYYYY."

I need to know specifically what "deppreparaat" means. It's obviously different from a "preparaat"/specimen. The "aard materiaal" was given as "partiele lymfeklier extirpatie" (so this is not a needle aspiration), and the "localisatie" was given as "R(echts) inguinaal." -- Target language is American English, target audience is American oncologists and their team.

After scouring Google.nl using spelling variations like "deppreparaat, dep-preparaat, dep preparaat," etc., I now think I've narrowed the options to a "SMEAR" or an "IMPRINT." However, these are two distinct actions in the work of a pathology lab. I'd like to be very clear about the specific item. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Many thanks in advance. Replies IN ANY LANGUAGE are welcome.

Touch Imprint Protocol

A single 1.0 cm 3 1.0 cm 3 0.3 cm fresh tumor sample was cut, avoiding surrounding normal tissue and necrotic areas (if possible). Two sets of 10 touch imprint slides were prepared as follows.
Each of the 20 slides was prepared by dabbing the cut surface of the tissue against uncharged glass slides to cover at least 60% of the slide surface. The slide was immediately immersed in cold 95%
ethanol, and after the last slide was prepared, they were fixed in ethanol for 5 minutes.

agree Barend van Zadelhoff : touch imprint slide. 'slide' for the 'preparaat' part.

deppreparaat
