Greetings

Non-PRO English to Arabic Other
Teacher writting an introductory letter to Lebanese parents of his students. Looking for a formal greeting (and how to write it on my computer) just to say "hello" at the top of the letter.

تحية طيبة و بعد

Since you also asked for the way to write it, I assume that you can write and see Arabic on your computer, if not, please send me email and I can explain what you need to do.

The greeting is pronounced "taHiyyeh Tayyibeh wa ba'd", meaning "kind greetings, and thereafter ..."

This is the typical formal greeting on many Arabic letters. The greeting is especially suitable when religious neutrality is desired, as is the case with a Lebanese community with a diverse community mix, or whose religious mix is not known.

Hope this helps,

Alaa Zeineldine
