Aus einem Lizenzvertrag, der überschrieben ist mit:
"License Agreement **for term of years**"
Im Text heißt es dann:
"The license rights granted hereunder shall be for the term of _____ years unless terminated as provided in this Paragraph. This License Agreement shall be automatically renewed annually unless either party provides written notice of termination to the other not less than 30 days prior to the end of the term."
Ich dachte zuerst, in der Überschrift würde vielleicht einfach das Auslassungszeichen (____) zwischen "term of" und "years" fehlen, aber den Begriff gibt es offenbar in dieser Form.
Kennt ihn vielleicht jemand? Danke im Voraus für hilfreiche Hinweise.

The English heading you've given us looks like it is a text for back-translation; it's not a common form of words in English contracts, I'm quite sure.
Perhaps it was thought to be a "clever-clever legalese", but it's not clever at all. I'd say the heading should read "Validity of licence in years".

| Thank you, David. However, the rest of the text seems 'genuine' English, and it's from a Missouri company. I'm afraid the solution you propose does not work in German because you would expect the indication of the number of years or whatever to follow. In this case, the term really is isolated, as part of the heading. Thanks, though, for the feedback as to the usage of the language! |
