Hi,
I know what a tank is, but I have not heard about tank drops yet. Does anybody know what that is in German? Thanks.
My sentence:
Tank drops should be loaded and unloaded in a diked area, so that in the event of a spill containment is provided. Vapors should be vented back into the tank drop.

The term "tank drop" is highly unusual as used in your context.
However, as I read it, mobile tanks are loaded/unloaded at certain points (the drops?). The requirement is that the site on which they are located must/should be surrounded by a dike that acts as a catchment in case of a fuel spill.

Vielleicht handelt es sich um vor der Erntezeit strategisch-plazierte Behälter zum Auftanken von landwirtschaftlichen Maschinen (Traktoren, Mähdreschern), die nach der Ernte wieder eingesammelt werden? A drop is short for a drop off point, i.e. for any sort of delivery (even of people) as part of a delivery route or round. Its opposite is a 'pickup'. A milkman or paper boy would have so many drops (i.e. houses) as part of his or her milk round.
