English term

the dope house

Non-PRO English to Japanese Other
people who are a bit stupid in a house

Proposed translations

1 day 18 hrs

まぬけな人々の家/manukenahitobitonoie

"Dope" which means stupid in Japanese is manuke or baka. Manuke is closer to the meaning of dope. "House" is ie in Japanese. If you didin't add "hitobito" inbetween manuke and ie, the sentence would sound like stupid house which means house itself is stupid.

ボケ一家 / boke ikka

This is just a guess, but I thought it sounded kind of funny. "Boke" is the act of, or somebody who stares into space, so to speak. "ikka" is a house, but the connotation is the family living there...

If there's no call for the "family" connotation, you could also go with:

ボケ屋敷 / boke yashiki

Here "yashiki" implies a house or building, and it also makes a pun w/ 化け屋敷 (bake yashiki) or "haunted house," which might sound good in your translation.

Anyways, hope that helps.
