Internal cash receipt and disbursement schemes are diverse. Examples include theft of cash, borrowing corporate funds with or without the intent of repayment, diversion of surrender, loan or dividend checks unknown to and without the authority of the clients, misdirection of settlement checks, and the issuance of improper checks against suspense accounts. Cash surrender or loan requests submitted by persons other than a policyowner are also examples of such fraud, as are forged signatures on negotiable instruments.
