Discussion

Juliana Alfei (asker) Feb 21, 2009:
Some examples XXX is leading the way, developing virtualization and thin-building solutions that can help keep trading going in the face of virtually any disaster.

XXX supports virtualization, trader mobility and thin-building approaches through a comprehensive set of capabilities.

It's finance related IT.

instalación descentralizada/edificio no centralizado

Incluyo algunas frases descriptivas:

• Where the decision is to site central equipment away from a user building, the user buildings are typically known as "Thin Buildings" - a thin building is one that has desktop equipment only. (http://www.globalservices.bt.com/LeafAction.do?Record=fin_mk...

• It is one of the only trading environments in the world to operate a 'thin-building' design, whereby all major technology hardware, equipment and data storage is housed offsite. This minimises the building's power usage and carbon emissions, as well as maximising data protection. (http://www.bp.com/sectiongenericarticle.do?categoryId=900966...

• Benefits of BT’s approach to business continuity for trading
operations include: ‘Thin buildings’ in vulnerable sites no longer contain critical hardware. (http://195.92.138.174/resources/financial_markets/february_0...

Thin Building Architecture: Allows for geographic separation of the front room turrets and the back room equipment, resulting in resource efficiencies and greater protection of the back room in a hardened data center. (http://www.nortel.com/prd/dpp/product/prodpages/collateral/a...

• The networking overhaul is an implementation of a "thin building" architecture that effectively separates back-room switching equipment from the user interface. (http://db.riskwaters.com/public/showPage.html?page=202939)

• This ranges from fully distributed native IP “thin-building” solutions, operating over the customers’ converged WANs and LANs, to traditional single-site configurations with TDM to the desk. (http://btplc.com/News/Articles/ShowArticle.cfm?ArticleID=80e...
