crayon

Masculine noun : le crayon, un crayon
Regular plural : les crayons, des crayons

To back up Yacine, just as "livre" is used collouqially, albeit incorrectly for "magazine", "revue", the word "crayon" is also used , incorrectly but never the less used, in France to refer to any writing implement : pencils, ball point pens, felt tip pens...
Peer comment(s):

agree Julia Gal : yes, but the word given was 'pencil', which in English specifically refers to just that, not pens etc...!

crayon de mine

there are crayons de couleur for colouring and crayon de mine for writing and sketching.
Although most of the answers mention crayon - excepted crayon de papier - I'm surprised no one proposed crayon de mine.
Going to a library for buiyng a pencil, one would ask for crayon de mine though crayon de mine is in English lead pencil, but in France crayon de mine is currently used for pencil when you refer to a pencil for writing.
